On the occasion of the bicentenary celebrations in the Holy Land, one of the tents used by Bahá’u’lláh was put on display on the grounds at Bahjí for pilgrims and visitors.
Following Bahá’u’lláh’s departure from the Old City of ‘Akká in 1877, tents were pitched for Him on numerous occasions. These tents provided shelter during His visits to the countryside and were also sometimes pitched close to where Bahá’u’lláh was staying to provide space for Him to receive pilgrims and visitors. This tent had been sent to Bahá’u’lláh as a gift for His use by Bahá’ís living in India at that time.
